We first met Anne about 35 years ago, when she and Peter were good friends. We remember her as a beautiful, slim young lady with a great sense of humour, and a lovely laugh. At that time, she smoked, as people did in those days, and she enjoyed a drink. Over the years, she got to know our children and grandchildren, with whom she was most generous. She and Peter, whom she married (we were witnesses at their marriage), would join us at our house for a pre-Christmas feast. We remember her as a cheerful person and a great conversationalist: always joining in with her informed perspective, but never dominating the conversation.

She was always a joy to listen to, with her, almost musical, way of speaking. She was so well-read, but never drew attention to this fact. It was just apparent from what she had to offer. Of course, she also had her world view to offer, having lived in several countries, notably India, as her father, a Canadian diplomat, was posted to various places.

Anne loved people, horses, dogs and cats, not necessarily in that order and they loved her back.

We loved her too and are sad to think that we won’t hear her voice, her stories, her opinions or her laughter again. We miss her and will miss her even more on Christmas Eve. Our family will raise a glass to her memory on that day for as long as we live.

Anne brought so much to our lives -- humour (especially her Brit wit), empathy, intelligence,. integrity. I hope she knows how much we loved her.

Anne was an angel with a generous heart of gold. She gave me my beautiful boy Dexter (aka Kestrel), helped us with a little medical scare, and was in my corner when he was stolen. Anne was one of the greatest animal lovers in the Valley.

I spent some time with Anne in the early 80s and thoroughly enjoyed her. She was a kind and gentle soul! She will be missed by humankind and animal-kind alike.
