Reg & his wife Gail came to Almonte in 1973 and purchased the old Comba Funeral Home. They will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary this year. The couple raised two sons in Almonte, Josh is a Licensed Funeral Director and Jake is a graduate of Algonquin College's Hotel & Restaurant Management program. Gail is a retired Orthopedic Nurse, having spent her entire professional career at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.
Since arriving in Almonte the Gamble's have totally renovated and enlarged the funeral home facility to meet the ever growing demand for their services. Reg has always been involved in his community, as Chairman of the Hospital Board, President of the Lions Club, his church or various other groups, such as the North Lanark Highland Games. He regularly helps a number of charity and festival groups by acting as their Master of Ceremonies. He can be seen in venues like Celt fest, Gospel fest, Community events, Fairs and Highland Games (North Lanark & Maxville) doing his thing to help. He follows his late dad's (Don Gamble) motto ... "Don't just take from your community, give back as much and more"!
Reg is also a Past president of the Ottawa & District Funeral Service Association and member of the Canadian, Ontario and Independent Group of privately owned funeral homes.
Reg is the recipient of two Community Service Awards, The Governor General's medal and The Queen's Golden Jubilee medal. He is also a recipient of the Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship medal presented by Lions International for outstanding service to his community.
