Josh Gamble, Owner & Funeral Director
A Note From Josh
For as long as I can remember I have watched my father operate our family business with the utmost integrity and commitment to quality. Inspired by his passion, I decided to follow in his footsteps and become a licensed Funeral Director nearly six years ago. The moment I graduated I devoted myself to learning all that I could about the Funeral Profession so I could one day return home and and assume responsibility of our family's funeral home. As I prepare for that day, now less than a year away, I realize that I will have some "tough shoes to fill". Armed with Dad's guidance; I commit myself to serving our community with the same honesty and compassion you have come to expect from my father. I look forward to coming home!
Reg & his wife Gail came to Almonte in 1973 and purchased the old Comba Funeral Home. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in 2008. The couple raised two sons in Almonte, Josh is a Licensed Funeral Director and Jake is a graduate of Algonquin College's Hotel & Restaurant Management program. Gail is a retired Orthopedic Nurse, having spent her entire professional career at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.
Since arriving in Almonte the Gamble's have totally renovated and enlarged the funeral home facility to meet the ever growing demand for their services. Reg has always been a innovator in the funeral profession. Never afraid to listen and always willing to embrace and help a family "Celebrate a Life" that has been lived. He has that certain personality that sets a family at ease almost from the very first meeting. He always has time to talk and listen.
Reg has always been involved in his community, as Chairman of the Hospital Board, President of the Lions Club, his church or various other groups, such as the North Lanark Highland Games. He regularly helps a number of charity and festival groups by acting as their Master of Ceremonies. He can be seen in venues like Celt fest, Gospel fest, Community events, Fairs and Highland Games (North Lanark & Maxville) doing his thing to help. He follows his late dad's (Don Gamble) motto ... "Don't just take from your community, give back as much and more"!
Reg is also a Past president of the Ottawa & District Funeral Service Association and member of the Canadian, Ontario and Independent Group of privately owned funeral homes.
Reg is the recipient of three Community Service Awards, The Governor General's medal, The Queen's Golden Jubilee medal and 2008 the Mississippi Mills Chamber of Commerce awarded Reg their first ever "Outstanding Community Support" award. He is also a recipient of the Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship medal presented by Lions International for outstanding service to his community.

Al is a retired high school teacher and taught shop as well as other subjects. Al is also a qualified First Aid assistant and worked with the Almonte Ambulance Service for a while as well. It is nice to see the rap ore Al has with his former students as they visit our funeral home. Of-coarse, during his teaching career he came to know many parents as well. Since retiring Al has become quite involved in his hobby farm as well as his church. He also enjoys and is very proficient at woodworking and gardening.
Gordon Weir, Funeral Director Assistant
Office Phone: 613-256-3313
Gordon is a retired police officer with the Ottawa Police Force.
He is a strong community minded person who enjoys the old time fiddle jamborees, R-Ving, dancing, step dancing (not to bad at it himself) and all the friendships made with such folk. Gord. enjoys people and is at his best when he is helping others. A quality that makes him a very strong asset with the Gamble family. Gord has been part of our funeral home staff since 1999. He is compassionate, caring and always more than willing to do whatever he can to help families during a difficult time. He knows most everyone in the area and they know him. If Gord doesn't know them, then you can be sure Marj does. Like Gord says .. "Marj knows everybody".
Gord and his wife Marj. (one of Almonte's finest nurses "Ret.") live in our community. A number of their children and grandchildren live here as well. This is home, Marj was born and raised here. Gord hails from Carleton Place (but we still like him).
Gord is one of the finest examples of local people helping local people in our community.

Harold Hogg, Funeral Director Assistant
Office Phone: 613-256-3313
Harold is the newest member of the Gamble team. Following his retirement and after the sale of his Apple Auto Glass business, he joined the staff in 2007. Harold is a quiet, soft spoken individual who's sincere demeanor is recognizable from your very first meeting with him. In short, the easiest way to describe Harold is with 2 words, "he cares". When dealing with people at a very difficult time in their lives, that description, pretty well says it all.
Harold is another local lad who was born and raised on the family farm in Clayton. Harold knows most everyone.
Reg Gamble and his family have made a point of surrounding themselves with local staff, people the community know and can identify with. People who are comfortable being around friends they have known all their lives.
Harold is a welcome addition to the staff.
